Our intrepid group of four motorcycles set towards Port Albert
with the idea of taking in the interesting roads and features.
Taking in the rural roads we saw our first stop at the Cowwarr
Art Gallery where we admired what inspiration and perspiration can
do to
a piece of marble.
With the temperature rising we decided to stop at Glengarry to
replenish our body fluids to ward off dehydration. Nankoojee winery proved to be the ideal choice for the task, with
many tastings and purchases. Creative packing was in order to get
all of
the purchases on the bikes.
From Glengarry it was off to Mirboo North taking in the roads
through Boolarra. Along the way there were clutch cable problems on a BMW so we
had to take a detour for repairs. Half way to Yinnar the little
Honda
250
ran out of fuel.
Eventually our handy little group gathered at Yinnar where Chris
could undertake the repairs on the bike.
Not wishing to distract him the remaining three hastened to
the Hotel next door to cool off.
Underway again the trip through the hills was quite enjoyable.
The roads weaved through the undulating countryside. Throughout this part of Gippsland there is always somewhere
to stop either to admire the scenery or to sample some of
the local
produce.
The beer at Mirboo North brewery went down a treat towards
the latter part of the day. It was here that
the decision was made to retire for the night at the Welshpool
Hotel. During dinner much was made of the razor sharp handling
and awesome stopping power of Boxers of yesteryear.
Morning saw us make our way to Yarram for breakfast before
taking in the local sights. Our next little expedition will take us into the Kelly
country later this year or we may venture back to that
area to take
in missed sights.
